Fire Extinguisher

Fire accounts for more than $9 billion in property loss in the United States each year. The majority of these fires can be stopped before growing too large with a single extinguisher, operated by a trained individual.p7210906.JPG

As a part of Permian Basin Regional Training Center’s commitment to public fire prevention education, the center has developed a fire extinguisher training program suitable for small groups, businesses and others desiring to improve their level of fire protection at home and at work.

The two hour classroom portion of the training program offers fire prevention education and discussion. Students then have the opportunity to obtain hands on experience discharging a fire extinguisher on a real fire. PBRTC utilizes a state-of-the-art fire extinguisher trainer that produces live fire through a simulated residential oven. This realistic training will provide the learning needed to act in an emergency at home or at work.

These programs are presented at the location and time of your choice for the convenience of your organization to reduce travel time and expense for participants.

Specialized Programs:

Healthcare: According to the National Fire Protection Association, there are nearly 22 fires each day in the United States in hospitals and healthcare facilities. PBRTC has developed a comprehensive program to address fire response and evacuation involving healthcare facilities. Training includes review of your facility’s emergency response and evacuation plan, rescue techniques, and fire extinguisher use.

Business and Industry: The PBRTC training program addresses the fire prevention concerns of business and industry through an evaluation of workplace hazards, emergency action plans, evacuation procedures and fire extinguisher use.

PBRTC specialized programs meet the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations found in 29 CFR 1910.157 requiring fire extinguisher training at time of initial employment and annually thereafter.

Each class has a validated lesson plan and may be supplemented with information from your individual emergency response plans and the target hazards at your facility.
